THE CAUSE FRANCES VORWERG SCHOOL

Frances Vorwerg School is a special needs school situated in Johannesburg South. The school caters for learners with physical and learning disabilities, from largely underprivileged socio-economic backgrounds.

As a result of their disabilities, these learners have varied learning needs and require regular input from speech therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Many learners require assistive devices in order to access the curriculum. These devices include iPads and computers for writing as well as having applications which speak for learners, hearing aids, glasses, eye gaze equipment to help learners write using their eye only etc.

These devices are very expensive and unfortunately the limited subsidy from the Department of Education is insufficient to assist with all the needs of all the learners in the school.

Our goal is to provide the best service possible to enable our learners to become independent members of society.
